NORTH BAPTIST CHURCH

CORONA VIRUS / COVID-19

AD HOC TEAM

MEETING # 3

TUESDAY, MARCH 31, 2020

Dear North Baptist Church Family:

We very lovingly and sincerely greet you in the name of our precious Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. We pray and trust you and yours are all well.

We also pray that we will all continue to rejoice in the presence and rest in the power of our good and faithful God in every detail of our lives. He has always been, is, and will always be faithful and true to His all-powerful name and His unchanging Word.
Your Corona Virus / COVID-19 Ad Hoc Team met once again by way of Zoom this morning, Tuesday, March 31st @ 9:00 A.M. Those “present” were Amy Blencowe, Mitch Carr, Stephanie Carr, Jeff Dunning, Gordon Kemp, Tom Marmor, Dave Mogren, Hope Robinson and Len Robinson.  We had an excellent time of prayer and discussion and we would like to share these points of discussion with you.

The Lord very richly blessed and encouraged us this past Sunday morning by way of our virtual worship. We are very humbled and very grateful to the Lord for His evident working in and through our lives. These unprecedented times have caused us to be very creative and innovative and to, without compromise, “think outside the box”. We are very thankful for the means of technological communication that have made our remaining connected with one another possible.

We carefully and prayerfully discussed ways of continuing to be creative and to make adaptations to our times of virtual corporate worship and our times of meeting together virtually so as to not get “stuck in a rut”. We will be sharing these thoughts with you in the coming days and you will also be experiencing them as we continue to worship and meet and serve together.

Several within our church family continue to very faithfully and effectively reach out to and to connect not only with each other but also with those in our communities. We are very grateful to you and very thankful to the Lord for these pro-active and intentional demonstrations of love.

We also want to sincerely thank you for your very generous response to our communication related to the importance of continuing to support the ministry our Lord has entrusted to us as a North Baptist Church Family. Later this week we will be sharing additional and encouraging information related to your sacrificial giving.

We look forward to connecting with you later this week and to sharing specifics of some upcoming very exciting ministry opportunities together, so please keep checking your emails, your mailboxes, our website, and our Facebook page. And, in the meantime, please be assured of our continued love and prayers and availability.

All Our Love To All Of You,

Your NBC Ad Hoc Team

NORTH BAPTIST CHURCH

CORONA VIRUS / COVID-19

AD HOC TEAM

MEETING # 2

TUESDAY, MARCH 24, 2020

Dear North Baptist Church Family:

Your Corona Virus / COVID – 19 Ad Hoc Team met once again on Tuesday, March 24th @ 9:00 A.M.  Our virtual meeting was conducted via Zoom, with the following members “present”  :  Amy Blencowe, Mitch Carr, Jeff Dunning, Gordy Kemp, Tom Marmor, Dave Mogren, Len Robinson (Hope also joined us in order to assist Len in discussing and preparing for recording a Children’s Story and a Message for this coming Sunday, March 29th.

Your Ad Hoc Team carefully and prayerfully considered and embraced a recommendation proposed by your Pastor and Overseers  (Len ,Dave, Mark). The recommendation was, in light of additional government mandates and recommendations, the ages and underlying health issues of some who serve on our Praise Team and in our Audio/Visual ministries, the ages and underlying health issues of some of the family and loved ones of those who serve in these areas of ministry, and, consulting with other ministries who are facing the same challenges, to “scale back”, and that our Sunday morning virtual worship be limited to a children’s story and a message.

We recognize that not everyone may agree with this recommendation. We (your pastor and overseers and ad hoc team) know we are not infallible. We do, however, very sincerely desire to be led by the Holy Spirit of God and to make decisions for the glory of God, for the blessing of you our church family and for the effective and faithful reaching of our community, while demonstrating a respect for and a God-honoring testimony toward the authorities He has placed over us.

We continue to sincerely desire to glorify God and to pro-actively love and care for our entire NBC Family. Recognizing we have within our NBC Family not only a significant number of elderly people (over 60 years of age) but also a significant number of people with underlying health issues, and sincerely desiring, to the best of our ability, to prevent the spread of this serious virus, we carefully and prayerfully decided to continue to implement the following:

Sunday:

Regular Sunday Morning Worship Services on-site are suspended until Sunday, April 19th, unless necessary to extend beyond this date. In place of the on-site services we continue to make plans and preparations to be connected with one another virtually, and to be able to worship together every Sunday morning.

In place of Sunday School, we want to encourage you to access the excellent teachings that are available through “Right Now Media” at no cost to you. If you are not signed into “Right Now Media”, or if you have any questions about how to access this valuable tool, please do not hesitate to contact Tom Marmor at adminassistant@northbaptist.org (Tom will be sending out an additional communication related to this excellent resource this week).

Again, we would humbly ask that you please continue to faithfully give through our online means at www.northbaptistchurch.org or by mail at North Baptist Church, 127 Sly Avenue, Corning, NY 14830. Your ongoing faithful and sacrificial giving is very important to the faithful and effective fulfilling of the ministry our Lord has graciously and mercifully entrusted to us.

Wednesday:

All Wednesday activities (Ladies’ Bible Study, KidZone, Prayer Meeting) are suspended until Wednesday, April 22, unless necessary to extend beyond this date. Prayer requests will be sent out via email every Wednesday. Please have all requests submitted to our NBC office by 10:00 A.M. Wednesday morning. Prayer requests may be called to 607-936-4284 or sent to office@northbaptist.org. Urgent prayer requests may be submitted at any time. They will be sent out in a timely manner.

Great News to Share:

This present journey has resulted in several of you very carefully and prayerfully “thinking outside the box” and considering creative ways, without compromise, of fulfilling ministry entrusted to our care.

North Baptist Church has purchased a Zoom Account, for only $14.00 a month. This account enables us to virtually conduct meetings and gatherings with up to 99 participants. Simply by calling in and hitting the link we can instantly be connected to each other  (Esther Marmor has very graciously agreed to serve as the Hostess of our Zoom Account. Please direct any questions you may have about “zooming” to her).

How The NBC Zoom Account Has Been (And May Be) Utilized:

The ministry of Healing Journey continued, via Zoom, without a hiccup. What a blessing to be able to carry on this very important and worthwhile ministry.

Our Fellowship Ministry Team conducted a virtual meeting for prayer and preparation this past week, via Zoom. Some of the team members joined visually while others called on their phones.

Plans have already been made, and communications have already been sent out to you, sharing about plans for our first virtual Prayer Meeting. This will take place tomorrow evening, Wednesday, March 25th @ 7:00 P.M. (please note the change in time).

Those who have been faithfully and effectively involved in our KidZone Ministry are carefully and prayerfully considering ways to connect with the children and families who have been actively attending our weekly KidZone activities. This is very exciting.

As communicated last week, because of government mandates, we will be unable to conduct an on-site Good Friday Service. However, some within our church family are creatively considering how we might be able to connect with one another, and our community, during these very important days for us as followers of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.

We humbly ask that each ministry please keep in mind not only the mandates that have come down from our authorities, but also the precautionary steps to prevent the spread of the Corona Virus. By utilizing our Zoom Account we have the possibility and the privilege of connecting with one another virtually. We readily recognize that meeting virtually is very different from meeting physically and face to face. Yet, this is a great tool for us to gratefully and effectively and faithfully utilize in serving our Lord and one another.

We encourage you to take some time to understand proper prevention measures to avoid spreading the virus by reading through the CDC recommendations at the following link:

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/prevention.html

Here are some of the basic measures listed on the CDC website: · Avoid close contact with people who are sick. · Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. · Stay home when you are sick. · Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. · Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe. · Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. · If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if your hands are visibly dirty.

It has been necessary to alter our office hours from that which was previously proposed. We do want, however, to emphasize two very important thoughts: (1) Pastor Len is available at any time and may be reached by calling or texting his cellphone at 315-481-2977. (2) We all can, and should, be reaching out to one another during these uncertain, and potentially lonely, days. Many of you have been reaching out to others—to those within, and to those outside of, our church family. Thank you so very much for doing this—please continue to do so.

Again, our highest priority in this is to love and glorify God by caring for the safety and well-being of you our church family and our community. Please let us know if there’s anything you need during this time. We may have to practice “social distancing” but that doesn’t mean we stop loving and caring and helping one another in any way we can.

Important Updates – March 17, 2020

The Corona Virus / COVID – 19 Ad Hoc Team of North Baptist Church met on Tuesday, March 17th @ 9:00 A.M. @ North Baptist Church. Members present were Amy Blencowe, Stephanie Carr, Jeff Dunning, Gordy Kemp, Tom Marmor, Dave Mogren, Len Robinson.

Following the consideration of biblical teachings and principles as set forth in Second Timothy 1:7, Romans 13:1-14, First Peter 2:13-17, First Timothy 2:1-2 and Act 5:29, we prayed together and proceeded to discuss what steps should, without fear, be lovingly and wisely determined.

We sincerely desire to glorify God and to pro-actively love and care for our entire NBC Family. Recognizing we have within our NBC Family not only a significant number of elderly people (over 60 years of age) but also a significant number of people with underlying health issues, and sincerely desiring, to the best of our ability, to prevent the spread of this serious virus, we implement the following:

Sunday:  Regular Sunday Morning Worship Services on-site are suspended until Sunday, April 19, unless necessary to extend beyond this date. In place of the on-site services we are making plans and preparations to be connected with one another and to be able to worship together (more information about these plans and preparations will be communicated as they are developed and finalized).

In place of Sunday School we want to encourage you to access the excellent teachings that are available through “Right Now Media” at no cost to you. If you are not signed into “Right Now Media”, or if you have any questions about how to access this valuable tool, please do not hesitate to contact Tom Marmor at adminassistant@northbaptist.org.

We would humbly ask that you please continue to faithfully give through our online means at www.northbaptistchurch.org or by mail at North Baptist Church, 127 Sly Avenue, Corning, NY 14830.

Wednesday:  All Wednesday activities (Ladies’ Bible Study, KidZone, Prayer Meeting) are suspended until Wednesday, April 22, unless necessary to extend beyond this date. Our Praise Team will determine when and if they will meet.

Although we would advise not meeting in groups of 10 or more people, all ministries are encouraged to carefully and prayerfully determine whether or not to meet together. We humbly ask that each ministry keep in mind not only the precautionary steps to prevent the spread of the Corona Virus, but also the possibility of connecting virtually. These ministries may include but not necessarily be limited to Ministry Teams, Leadership Teams, Discipleship Groups, Healing Journey, SewFest, Transition Team, etc.

In addition to that which has been communicated, we want to make clear that all other previously scheduled activities, including, but not necessarily limited to our Congregational Meeting and the visit of our pastoral candidate are postponed and the on-site Good Friday Service is cancelled.

We encourage you to take some time to understand proper prevention measures to avoid spreading the virus by reading through the CDC recommendations at the following link:
